Change…Something You Can Count On.

Sometimes change is a lot of fun…and sometimes it just jumps out at you like a masked man from the shadows of a dark alley and scares the living daylights out of you.  Well, it looks like we’re headed into a season of change in Mosaic…thankfully not the dark alley kind.

The first change is that we will be consolidating our Sunday evening worship gathering into Sunday morning.  In other words, we’re discontinuing the 6pm service and inviting all of you who faithfully participated in that service to move back to either 9 or 11am.  There are several reasons for this change.

For one, over the last four months that we’ve run with our Mosaic Nightlife service, we’ve found that it imposes an unexpectedly heavy load on our musicians and other volunteers.  It’s one thing to do multiple services with either paid staff or a large pool of volunteers to draw from.  But, as we’ve found out, it is quite another when we’re talking about a smaller church such as Mosaic pulling off three services in a day.  In addition, our evening service simply has not seen the kind of growth we had hoped for.  So rather than stretch ourselves too thin, we’ve decided to “pull the plug” for now and take note of what we’ve learned.  We appreciate the sacrifice and change many of you made in going to this evening format and apologize for any inconvenience this may cause some of you. Please feel free to give us your input as we look ahead to future worship opportunities.

That next change will involve all of us.  As most of you know, we are in the process of negotiating for a different downtown venue for Mosaic.  The next step will need to be something that can hold 150-225 people.  Initially that will mean we’ll be going back to one worship gathering on Sunday mornings until we outgrow that size.  This move will probably come sometime in the next 2-4 months

While we can’t say definitely where that will be, the most likely location at present is the historic Globe Building at the corner of Division and Main.  It has lots of parking (60+ spaces), lots of bathrooms (4), lots of space for seating and eating, room for children, offices and growth.  And it will allow us to do what we’ve wanted to do since the inception of Mosaic five years ago: open a full coffee/chocolate shop that can also host evening musical events.  Situated on downtown’s busiest street on the edge of both the university and commercial districts of Spokane, this location has tremendous potential for us over the next several years.

So please pray with us through this change.  Pray that we will be able to get a lease agreement that is within our budget.  Pray that God will continue to grow our impact and spread of the Gospel of Christ into more people’s lives.  And pray that God will grow Mosaic so that we are able to fulfill all He has planned for us to do as we “experience the heart of God in the heart of the city.”

Yah for change!

P.S.  We're launching a new season of our Couple's Group on Sunday evening, February 10th, at 6:00pm at our house.  We'll be working through the video series, "Laugh Your Way to a Better Marriage."  All couples are invited!  See the Sunday bulletin for details.
