If you were writing one of your last letters ever to your son or daughter and wanted to be sure they understood what was most important about worship, what would you place at the top of the list?
Interesting question…and even more interesting reality when it comes to what the great Apostle Paul actually did write on that subject in one of his last letters to Timothy, his son in the faith. Here’s what Paul zeroed in on about worship:
“I urge, then, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for all people….” (1 Timothy 2:1)
Prayer is to hold no small part in our corporate worship. That’s why I want to encourage every one of you who possibly can to BE the body of Christ in Spokane this week at The National Day of Prayer city-wide, all-church Prayer Service this Thursday evening at Life Center (1202 N. Government Way) from 6:30-8:00 p.m. We will be joining UNITE, a city-wide declaration of unity around Jesus Christ, in prayer. Leaders from all over Spokane and from a variety of ethnic expressions of the church will be guiding us in prayer and worship.
If ever there was a time in our nation when we need to call out to God for mercy and grace, now IS that time. So let’s put feet, hands, hearts, knees and passion to our faith by seeking God as He has commanded us and God’s leaders in Spokane are inviting us.
Speaking of prayer, many of us are still gathering Wednesday evenings from 7:00-8:00 p.m. for prayer for and at Mosaic. Love to have you join us when you can.
Men, our last Men’s Connection until next fall is this Saturday, May 9th at 8:00 a.m. We’ll be finishing up the series by Mark Batterson entitled SURRENDERED AND UNTAMED, looking at the topic of living out our God-given DESTINY. Come join us for great food, fellowship and friendship. Who knows, it might change your destiny!
And just so everyone remembers, this Sunday is MOTHER’S DAY. Yes, I’ll actually be teaching about one of the most interesting mothers mentioned in the Scriptures. So honor your mother again for all the love she showed you…and bring her along to Mosaic to celebrate the day with God.
Finally, an update on what we know (or better yet, don’t) about our impending relocation. This Sunday we will be moving all the children upstairs to our existing and additional office space that we’ve rented just for them as we begin to vacate the ground floor side room. (Parents, please check in your children directly at the 608 W. 2nd Ave. doors and then join us in Second Space.)
We will most likely be staying in our existing area of Second Space for church services through July. Come August, if we don’t have a long-term solution by then, we have a beautiful option available for short-term Sunday relocation to the Healing Rooms facility due east about eight blocks (with tons of parking included). So please keep praying and asking God for His very BEST of buildings for us and other ministries needing a Mosaic Center downtown. Miracles are His business; moving will be ours.
Have a wonderful rest of the week and weekend enjoying Jesus…and mothers.
Pastor John
