Speaking of young people, YOUTH ALPHA is coming!
Starting June 22nd, the Mosaic Life Boats (Youth Ministry, grades 7-12) will be experiencing the youth version of Alpha, complete with BBQs every Wednesday night through the summer. If you are a junior higher or high schooler, we’d love to have you join us. We’ll be meeting Wednesday nights from 6-8PM at Sandy Tidwell’s home (4361 S. Greystone Lane, just off 42nd& S. Freya).
The format will be totally different from the adult Alpha while the content will overlap (read “a lot more interactive”). Hope to see all teenagers there…along with your friends! This is a great opportunity to invite unchurched friends as it is all about asking questions and open discussion.
SUNDAY we’ll be talking about God’s plan to NEUTRALIZE THE ENEMY’S ATTACKS from Ephesians 6:16. Just because the weather is turning nice (I’m thinking optimistically here), don’t think our enemy, the Devil, takes a break. We’ll be talking about the SHIELD OF FAITH that God has given to us. Interestingly enough, the shield Paul talks about is one that needed to be locked together with shields of others in a Roman Army. This battle we’re in is not meant to be won alone…and won’t be. So don’t try to fight it alone. Join with God’s people in praise, worship, fellowship, learning, prayer, growth and service this weekend wherever you are...or at 9 or 11AM Sunday @ Mosaic Fellowship.
BAPTISM SUNDAY: If you want to be baptized this Sunday, be sure to call me ASAP. We’ll be celebrating baptism at 4PM at the Collins’ home.
This week an ON-LINE INTERVIEW I had with the local web site APPLEBRIDES.COM came out. If you’d like to learn a little more about the PREMARITAL COUNSELING we do at Mosaic and why we do it, check out this link: http://applebrides.com/2011/05/24/how-to-prepare-for-marriage/. You’ll see why we need more of you on our Marriage Mentor’s Team at Mosaic. I’ve already heard from a couple of couples who are interested in our program. Talk with me or Dennis Tomlinson (
) if you are interested in impacting marriages and families for the Kingdom of Christ.
SCRIP IS COMING…read PASSIVE (“smart") STEWARDSHIP!
If you’ve never heard of “scrip,” you will over the next few months. Mosaic Fellowship has just received approval to become a member of SHOP WITH SCRIP. Here’s how it works.
You go on line to their web site and purchase “scrip cards” from many of the hundreds of places you normally shop or eat at (grocery stores, fast food restaurants, retail stores, hardware stores, hotels, etc.). You purchase the cards at their face value for whatever amount you want ($10, 25, 50, 100, etc.) and then twice a month they are mailed to Mosaic where you can pick them up when you are there on Sundays. Mosaic receives a donation of anywhere from 1-23% of your total purchase value, depending on the particular companies you purchase from. It’s that simple.
What a great way to give more money to the work of the Kingdom without losing a dime of your purchasing power. It doesn’t cost you anything but the time to go on-line and purchase the scrip cards for places you normally shop anyway. It’s just plain great stewardship!
Go to http://www.glscrip.com/to learn more. Then contact my wife, Sandy, if you have specific questions or want to sign up (
).
THE WORLD @ A GLANCE
Welcome back CHAD & AMY MacPHERSON! We’re delighted to have this terrific family back in Spokane for the next eight weeks before the head to China. Please be praying for their support needs. And, by all means, JOIN THEIR TEAM if God nudges you to do so. NOW is the time they need to FINALIZE THEIR SUPPORT. So NOW is the time for us to get on board financially by making a commitment and starting our giving. Pick up a prayer card on Sunday or contact them directly about joining their team at

WANT TO GO TO VIENNA THIS SUMMER? We just received an email from Nels Pitotti (Chris’s dad) in Vienna inviting anyone who wants to to be part of a work project in Austria at the International Christian School of Vienna this summer. Lodging will be free as you would stay in Nel’s & Sandy’s apartment. You’ll work at the school a few hours a day reupholstering their chapel chairs and have the rest of the day to enjoy Vienna, swim the Danube or take in the night and cultural life. Cost would be about $3,500-4,000. If you would like more info on this, please contact Nels at
or look Chris and Angela up at church and ask them. Sounds like a great way to enjoy a bit of Europe this summer.
THE SEASIDE: The new “bar church” that the Greers have launched is going well with about 20-35 regulars each Sunday at The A-Club. Plenty of new faces and spiritually hungry people are checking out what God is doing there. Please keep them in your prayers as they bring the light of Christ to the very core of our city and culture.
Have a terrific weekend enjoying the end of spring…and hopefully the beginning of summer.
John
