There are so many things happening in the heart of our city that have the pulse of the heart of our Father that it’s hard to know where to begin. So for starters, set your clocks BACK one hour this Saturday night…and enjoy the extra sleep! Or you could just show up an hour early Sunday morning to help our set-up team, pray or enjoy a cup of coffee and a few quiet moments of heart prep for worship. Your call.
This Saturday, October 31 (Halloween), instead of hitting people up for free candy, we’ll be experiencing the heart of God in two different ministries and buildings downtown. Since Whitworth is on fall break and needing help with the En Cristo ministry to the Park Tower Building, we’ll be fielding a team to prepare sack lunches at the Whitworth Commons at 1:00 p.m. and then coming down to the Park Tower building (217 W. Spokane Falls Blvd.) about 2:30 to knock on doors and serve those residents with food. It’s a great kid-friendly opportunity for families to serve our city together. Please let Andrew Isom know if you are planning on participating (834-1438 or
).
At the same time (1:00-4:00 p.m.), our Pioneer Pathways Team will be hosting a Harvest/Halloween Party for the residents of the Pioneer Building. We’ll be bringing snacks and drinks as well as playing movie bingo with the residents. We’re also inaugurating a CD music lending library for the residents. So if you would like to turn a creepy cultural holiday into a redemptive relational harvest, please contact/call/text Derik (263-5181) or Zoe (208-447-4375) and let them know you’ll be coming.
Speaking of the “Music Lending Library” at the Pioneer, if you have any gently used music CDs that you would like to donate to this ministry, please bring them to church over the next month and leave them at the Registration Table as you enter. We’ll be sure to put them to good use in a Lending Music Library we’re starting there. Also, if you have any portable CD players or a rolling CD cabinet you would like to donate to Pioneer, please bring those any Sunday or let us know and we’ll come pick them up from you. Call the office at 747-3007.
Lastly, as we move into November, we’ll be launching Operation Christmas Child, an opportunity to share a shoe box full of items with some needy child in another part of the world. Pick up your shoe box this Sunday, fill it with suggested items and return it before Thanksgiving. It’s a great opportunity to touch a child’s heart this Christmas.
If you're keeping up with The Story readings, you'll want to have read through chapter 8 this week as we'll be launching into chapter 9 this Sunday.
Enjoying the Father and His family,
Pastor John
