What does Jesus in the Gospel of John have to do with the health care debate raging in America today? What God says and doesn’t say might just surprise you.
If you missed out on last Sunday’s message due to Hoopfest, you might want to download the podcast or read it on the Mosaic website (www.mosaicspokane.com). While so much has changed in the world of medicine, in other ways so little has changed about the challenges we still face. You would think God was trying to tell us something through health and illness all through the ages!
So SUNDAY, come beat the heat and bag a blessing as we experience God’s heart about health care…Part II. And feel free to bring your questions on the issue as well. I’ll do my best to point you to God’s answers.
SUCCESS @ OFF BROADWAY CAMP: last weekend over a dozen leaders from Mosaic helped Off Broadway Outreach pull off a very successful day camp at the Union Gospel Mission Camp on the Spokane River. You be able to see some of the miles of smiles that we caught in digital pictures this Sunday before and after the worship services.
We will also be COMMISSIONING Mark Massingale to the new work to which God has called him in Cambodia. It is amazing what God has done to raise this ministry up and send Mark back to work with the Vietnamese boat people on the Mekong River. Let’s celebrate this great step together Sunday.
MONDAY WOMEN’S STUDY is starting up for the summer this week. Join Pat Menke and Beth Moore in the experience of “Praying God’s Word.” You’ll be stronger for it!
Attention YOUNG ADULT MEN: This Monday night at 7:00pm we’ll be enjoying our twice-monthly time of cross-generational mentoring at Second Space. Dennis Tomlinson will be leading our wisdom-sharing on the topic of A Man & His Money.
SERVING @ CUP TUESDAY—this Tuesday is our opportunity to serve the street youth of Spokane at Cup. If you are looking for a way to be Jesus to kids needing to experience God, come help us cook and serve starting at 6:00pm at City Gate’s kitchen. Contact Pastor John at 710-8026 if you have questions or need directions.
SERVING @ CITY GATE SATURDAY—If adults are more your cup of tea, then City Gate should be a part of your schedule. What better way to invest a laid-back summer Saturday evening than serving the love of Christ and food to people needing both. Contact Mike Mann for specifics (714-9122) or simply join the prep party at 6:15pm this Saturday.
BED FRAME & DINNER NEED: our sister, Dianna, who is recuperating from knee replacement, needs a double bed frame. If anyone has one to loan or give her, that would be much appreciated. Getting out of bed from the floor tends to be a bit more difficult…even if you haven’t had knee surgery! And if you would like to bring a meal for her sometime in the next couple of weeks, go to http://www.takethemameal.com/meals.php?t=CXYK4700 to sign up. You may also reach Dianna at 624-4240.
PRAYER OPPORTUNITIES:
- Please pray for Dianna’s speedy recovery from her knee replacement. So far it’s been great!
- Ask God to show a couple of our young men the building or place he would have them live and minister in downtown next year. We would love to see their presence transform a whole building.
- Prayer for Tim Mason, director of Riverview Bible Camp. His brother, Darrin, a teacher in the area, took his own life this past Tuesday. He leaves a wife and two children (17 & 20) as well as his mother, brothers and nephews. And pray for Pastor John who will be doing the funeral tomorrow (Sat.) at Life Center at 11AM.
