New Things on the Horizon
NEW SERVICE
While we’re not planting a new church this year at Mosaic, we are starting another weekend service on Sunday evening, October 21st. We’ve been praying and waiting on God about this for about 6 months. Given the strong attendance we’ve were seeing late last spring and again this fall, we believe it is time to “pull the trigger” and take the plunge.
So now you will not only be able to choose between the 9 or 11 AM service times but add into the mix a 6PM option on Sundays. Services will be pretty much identical…though I may be able to improve on my preaching as the day unfolds.
I’d like to ask that every one of you begin praying for a few things in regard to this new service:
1.) Does God want you to be part of the new evening “core” and make this your regular worship service for at least the next 6 months? We figure we need about 35 people to form this core in order to begin to build a healthy worship experience for all.
2.) Who does God want you to invite to experience the heart of God in the heart of the city with us on Sundays, be it morning or evening? Your invitation may make the difference between heaven and hell in eternity, between spiritually abundant life or spiritually empty life right now.
3.) Will you pray for the growth of Mosaic through the saving of souls over the next year?
Thanks for partnering in prayer and participation.
NEW SHAPE
Yes, my wife does work for Weight Watchers. But that’s not the kind of “shape” I’m talking about at Mosaic. The same Sunday we launch the new worship service, we will also be offering a wonderful 7-week class (at the same time--6:00pm) called “SHAPE.” Taught by Harold Coleman, this class helps you figure out how God has molded you for life in general, work family, fellowship and particularly service. Every participant will have an opportunity at the end of the class to sit down for a one-on-one consultation with one of the pastors to discuss how we can help you put it into practice. Please mark your calendars for October 21st and plan to discover God’s SHAPE for your life.
NEW SAWS & SPLITS
Well, I had to make the “S” alliterations work! I’m a pastor, for Pete’s sake. Fact is, this Saturday, October 6th, Mosaic MEN will be kicking off this year’s MEN’S CONNECTION with a BREAKFAST at 8am and wood sawing and splitting later in the day. This Saturday we’ll be looking at the importance of man-to-man relationships. Then those who can serve for a few hours will be enjoying those relationships as we’re cutting, splitting and hauling wood for one of our single parent families that heats with wood all winter. Men, bring your chain saws, trucks, gloves, strength and heart this Saturday to Mosaic. We’ll feed you and point you to the right trees!
And WOMEN, not to be outdone, you’ll be enjoying breakfast on OCTOBER 20th @ 8:00am at Mosaic too. Mark the date.
NEW SITE (maybe)
Yes, if you were with us Sunday, you saw an architect’s rendering of what our next Mosaic facility just might look like…maybe. We’re currently looking at an empty building in our downtown neighborhood that would allow us to develop a Youth Center, a coffee/chocolate bar and pastry shop, a downtown concert venue, classrooms and two floors of leasable office space, not to mention all the other Mosaic Ministries we normally do. And, YES, it has parking…hundreds of spaces! (No, we’re not going for the Ridpath.)
We are waiting on God to see if this might be His promptings or just our brainstorming. And we’re also pursuing funding options that would enable us to keep our resources going towards people and ministry while letting other believers invest in what God is doing downtown these days. We’ll keep you posted…and let’s all keep praying.
NEW SERIES
Sunday we move back into the book of John, picking up our fall series “Life to the Full” in John 7. This is the chapter where Jesus promises “streams of living water” flowing from within anyone who comes to him and believes in him. Anybody thirsty? See you Sunday.
