People really are interested in God…even if they can’t stand the church these days. If you don’t think so, just try asking them.
In the past two days I’ve watched God open up several extended conversations with people on the street about pretty deep spiritual issues. On Monday I joined a couple of our young adults at Mosaic as they struck up conversations with people at Riverfront Park. Total strangers were truly open to telling their story as we talked about where God wants to be a part of their lives.
Then yesterday I wound up in a conversation in the parking lot of Lowe’s, of all places, with a young doctor I’d never meet. We debated everything from morality to evolution and I parted thankful for a total stranger not afraid to discuss life’s deeper issues.
People really are more open to talk about God and their thoughts about Him and life than I tend to give them credit.
That’s why I want to encourage you to consider taking advantage of a SPECIAL FREE CONFERENCE going on this week at the Spokane First Church of the Nazarene (9004 N. Country Homes Blvd.). It is put on by one of the most respected Christian apologetics organizations I know of in the world today, Ravi Zacharias International Ministries. Here are the specifics about this great learning opportunity.
- Thursday, May 10th at 7pm - Stuart McAllister speaks on "Jesus Christ: Stepping Stone or Stumbling Block?"
- Friday, May 11th at 7pm - Stuart McAllister speaks on "Whose Message, Whose Truth?"
There will also be a Youth Event on Friday at 7pm with Andy Bannister - "Why Apologetics?"
- Saturday, May 12th at 9am - Stuart McAllister speaks on "The Cross and the Problem of Evil" followed by Andy Bannister speaking on "How is God Good News for Our Culture?"
SATURDAY MEN’S CONNECTION will take place THIS SATURDAY, May 12th, at Second Space at 8:00a.m. We’ll be dealing with God’s forgiveness for men who mess up like us! We’ll also be rolling out a new opportunity for men to put their manly fix-it skills to work in the kingdom of God right here at Mosaic. Join us from 8-9:30 this Saturday!
MOTHER’S DAY—Yes, it’s THIS SUNDAY. Our own Jesse Auchenbach will be leading us into the lives of three pretty amazing Old Testament mothers you may not have thought about very much. Come celebrate God and his goodness to us as we honor motherhood and a mother’s heart in all the women in God’s family.
We’ll also be hearing from our own Emily Morehouse who is headed to MEXICO for the summer to minister to children and youth as well as praying for the others headed overseas this summer.
Keep an eye out for divine encounters. They may pop up in the most surprising places.
Pastor John
