Pastor's Weekly Update

Signs of Death...Signs of Life

Posted by John Repsold on with 0 Comments

This is the theme of our Holy Week 2016 at Mosaic Fellowship.

As we walk through this very special week of remembering and worshiping our Lord Jesus as Christ, may I encourage you to set aside some extra time throughout the week to meditate on a couple of things:

1.)    What did Jesus have to let go of, let die, in order for him to go to the cross and give us life eternal?  I’d encourage you to look particularly at John 13-19 as well as Matthew 26-27

2.)    Luke 9:23-25 tells us, “Then he [Jesus] said to them all: “Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross daily and follow me. 24 For whoever wants to save their life will lose it, but whoever loses their life for me will save it. 25 What good is it for someone to gain the whole world, and yet lose or forfeit their very self? What might God be asking you to let go of in order to truly find life in Jesus Christ?

This Good Friday we’ll be honoring Jesus in a special Good Friday Service from 6:00-7:00 p.m. at the Healing Rooms.  There will be plenty of wonderful music and reflective readings, along with one of Eric’s new original dramas, sharing of communion and a meditation on what Jesus let go of in his life so that we might take hold of him and life eternal.  So prepare your hearts by letting the Word of God wash over you this very special week.

Then come prepared to celebrate the Signs of Life that the resurrection of Jesus Christ brought to our dying world as well as our own lives today in Jesus Christ.  We’ll be gathering at 10:00 a.m. as usual on Resurrection Morning at The Healing Rooms.

If you would like to attend an Easter sunrise service this year as well, I’d strongly recommend the one that Greater Spokane Association of Evangelicals (GSAE) is putting on at Greenwood Memorial Terrace Gardens (located at 211 N. Government Way) at 6:30 a.m. at the Cross of Inspiration on the top of the hill. Pastor Chris Merkling of our neighboring downtown church, Orchard Christian Fellowship, will be leading the music and Anthony Carollo, Director of GSAE will be sharing the Word of God.

Don’t miss out on a meaningful walk with Jesus this special Holy Week as you walk through life and God’s word.
