What would it be like to live in a country that has 1.2 billion people in a space the size of the continental U.S. east of the Mississippi River? In a word, it would be INDIA.
Having just returned from seeing THE most fruitful, amazing ministry I’ve ever been privileged to observe anywhere in the world, my cup is brimming over with the goodness and joy of the Lord. And I’ve returned “home” with a new appreciation for the blessings we enjoy every day in this nation and city because of the Christian heritage and history of our land.
This Sunday, I’ll be sharing briefly some of my observations and impressions from a week of ministry with amazing brothers and sisters in Christ who are living and dying in south Asia for the Kingdom of God. It does something to one’s perspective when you talk with young people who have spent years in prison or been beaten for their faith. Just to give you an idea of how much ministry in the name of Jesus Christ might cost you in India, in 2011 there were 372 pastors killed for their faith.
So how about us? What does God want us to do with our freedoms? I hope we can discover the answer to that question together over the next few months as we keep pushing back the gates of hell in downtown Spokane. And I hope you will take full advantage of the blessings that come through shared fellowship and teaching in the Word of God this weekend.
MEN’S CONNECTION this SATURDAY @ 8:00am. @ Second Space. We’ll be enjoying breakfast and fellowship around the theme “Unity Through the Gospel.” We’ll also be looking forward at what God may have for Men’s Connection in coming months. Gentlemen, come and experience God this Saturday morning with your brothers in Christ.
CITY GATE SERVE—This Saturday night at 6:30, you are invited to join the team in serving the hungry of downtown at City Gate, 170 S Madison St. If you haven’t already signed up and would like to serve, call Mike Miller at 812-276-7943.
SUNDAY WORSHIP CELEBRATION: My sincerest thanks to Chris Buck and Mike Miller for bringing God’s word to Mosaic in my absence over the past couple of Sundays. If you missed it, be sure to visit the Mosaic web site and listen to the podcast (www.mosaicspokane.com).
MONDAY LENTEN PRAYER--Are you doing anything different or special to boost your spiritual life this Lenten season? Lent is a wonderful time to sharpen some unused or neglected spiritual practices. So why not see what God can do when you spend some additional time in His presence with others seeking to worship Him? Join us Mondays from 7-8pm at Second Space for an informal time of prayer and worship for the remaining Monday evenings of Lent.
This week we’re back into the last few chapters of the Gospel of John in a series entitled “The Path to Victory.” This Sunday we’re looking at how God’s path to victory “Runs Through Rugged Reality,” John 15-16. Come and experience the Spirit’s work in your own “rugged reality”.
God has good things in store for us, as always.
Enjoying being home with you, my family,
Pastor John
